God has not told me 2023 polls will hold – Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God Pastor Enoch Adeboye has stated God has not told him whether or not the 2023 polls will take place. The strange situation, he said, is despite the closeness of the February 2023 polls.

Am not sure if election will in 2023.

Speaking during the RCCG 2022 Holy Ghost Service, Adeboye lamented said the situation in Nigeria has become worse to the extent the currency was no longer worth the paper it’s printed on.

Nigerians, he said, should learn to laugh despite the harsh conditions of living so they don’t develop hypertension.

According to him: “We need to ask God for mercy because what’s going on in our country, it doesn’t even make sense anymore.

"Our Naira now is not even worth the paper it is printed on. While people are hungry, trying to find enough money to buy bread to eat our Moses are thinking of making the Naira more beautiful that is, even if it can’t buy bread, at least it will look beautiful.

We have to hold unto him and ask for mercy.

“God must be merciful unto us. We will have to hold on to Him and say, ‘Please help.’ Do you know that up till now and this is November, Daddy hasn’t told me yet that there’s going to be an election next year.

“We continue of course as if there’s going to be; I am saying that, Adeboye, I am not talking of other people, God has not told me yet. He may tell me tomorrow, I don’t know; but as of this moment that I am sitting before you, He hasn’t told me whether or not there will be an election next year.

"Of course, as usual, anybody who comes to me and he says, “pray for me,” I will pray for them. That’s my duty but it is up to God to answer. I am not trying to frighten you; I am not telling you that I know something secret that you don’t know; I am not a prophet I am just a pastor; but I am your Pastor. We need to pray. So I expect to see all of you on Friday the 2nd of December; come ready to pray.’’

New naira notes to be printed locally, says CBN

By: Nduka Cheijina.

There is no plan to print the proposed new naira notes outside Nigeria, a Central Bank of Nigeria Board member has said.

“All the new currency notes are printed in Nigeria by the Nigeria Security, Printing and Minting Company, so I do not envisage printing outside the country,” the Board member told Newsmen in confidence.

Central Bank of Nigeria CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele.

He, however said that he has no idea of the cost for printing the new currencies for now. But he assured that the cost is “something that can be accommodated in view of the expected benefits of the re-designed notes”.

According to CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, the N1000, N500 and N200 are to wear new looks soon.

According to the Board member, “at present, the Board of the CBN has not been inaugurated even though the Senate has confirmed the re-appointment of the members. Until the Board is inaugurated, it cannot sit”.

He went on to add that “in the interim, the President who is the Supervisor of the CBN, acts on behalf of the Board. This is why the Governor went directly to the President for approval of the redesign.

But Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki read political meaning to the proposed naira redesign.

Policy targeted at opposition, says Obaseki.

He said: “The redesigning of the nation’s currency should not be a priority, as the majority of citizens are suffering from hunger, poverty and economic hardship.

“I am an economist and I can tell you categorically that this policy by the CBN and Federal Government has no basis in Nigeria’s economy. There is no reason to do this. The move is purely political, as there is no urgency in changing our currency.”

Edo governor was of the opinion that putting food on the table of Nigerians ought to have been given priority attention by the Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
